Hughston Diagnostics is located on the ground floor of the Main Clinic location in Columbus, GA. It utilizes a 1.5 Tesla GE MRI machine, which is accredited with the American College of Radiology, to perform all types of orthopaedic MRI exams.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a type of scan that our physicians schedule when soft tissue, which cannot be seen as well on traditional radiographs, needs to be visualized.
MRI is a non-invasive procedure which takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete and causes no known side effects.
MRI is safe for patients with total hip or knee prostheses, but not for patients with artificial heart valves, pacemakers, or aneurysm clips. To ensure safety, the technologist will screen each patient before the exam to go over these and other questions.
