About John Waldrop

Dr. Waldrop attended Mercer University and the University of Georgia and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He did his residency at Greenville Hospital and Shriners for Crippled Children where he trained in orthopaedics.

Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Waldrop holds memberships in many professional societies including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

His specialties and research interests include total joint replacement arthroscopy, partial joint arthroplasty, and knee, hip, and shoulder problems.

Dr. Waldrop has performed over 20,000 knee and hip replacements during the past 40 years. He has been instrumental in the development of the partial knee replacement and he is now performing this improved total hip replacement approach. Dr. Waldrop is part owner of the Hughston Clinic and Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital and is a supporter of the Hughston Foundation. Surgeries performed at the Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital and Piedmont Columbus Regional Northside Campus.
