About Matthew Stewart

Matthew G. Stewart, MD, practices general orthopaedics with a special interest direct anterior hip replacement. His specialties also include foot, ankle, and knee reconstruction, total joint replacements (hip, knee, and ankle), as well as sports medicine injuries. Originally from Columbus, GA, he graduated magna cum laude from Auburn University with an undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences. He went on to earn his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic in Memphis where he served as Chief Orthopaedic Resident. Before becoming a member of our staff, Dr. Stewart completed a fellowship specializing in foot and ankle surgery at Duke University.

Dr. Stewart is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Society (AAOS) and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). He has published several research studies in peer-reviewed orthopedic journals on pediatric fractures, total ankle replacements, and the effect of obesity on elective foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Stewart has a clinical expertise in total ankle replacements, deformity correction, sports related injuries of the foot and ankle, general orthopaedic trauma, total knee replacements and total hip replacements through the anterior approach.
